Traveling safely doesn’t mean having no problems.
In recent months they ask me more and more often:
“But in your opinion… is it safe to travel now ?”
And every time I think the same thing. It’s not the world that has become more dangerous. It’s our perception that has changed.
Non-stop news, wars, tensions, canceled flights…
everything seems to tell us: stay where you are.
But there’s a truth no one really tells:
Travel has never been a synonym for control.

What we think of when we say “travel safely”
For most people, safety means:
- no surprises
- on-time flights
- perfect hotels
- no changes
- A plan to follow
In other words, a “problem-free” trip. But this… isn’t a trip. It’s an illusion.

Reality (the real one)
After more than 30 years around the world, I can tell you one thing with absolute honesty:
Unexpected events are part of the trip. Always.
Considering how much I’ve traveled, I’ve been lucky, but I too have had to deal with:
- airspace closures when I was already ready to leave
- a typhoon during a stay in Singapore
- missed connections and improvised nights in airports
- last-minute changes of plans
- And other things I’d rather not talk about …..
And you know what the point is? None of this has ever ruined my trip. IN FACT. Often it was right there that the trip became memorable.

The mindset of the true traveler
Real safety isn’t avoiding problems but knowing you’ll be able to handle them.
It means leaving with:
- flexibility
- experience
- adaptability
- awareness
When you have this, the trip changes completely. You no longer seek control. You live the experience.
And this is where the value of those who, like me, organize trips also comes in:
not to eliminate the unexpected (no one can) but to help you handle it in the best possible way

“Facilitating” destinations
If today I had to recommend intercontinental trips that help you travel more calmly, I’d say this.
There are destinations that, by structure and organization, make everything easier, for example:
🇳🇦 Namibia
- wide open spaces
- well-organized tourism
- few risks linked to instability
- perfect for those seeking safety and nature

🇹🇭 Thailand
- excellent tourist infrastructure
- help easy to find
- great experience in hospitality
- perfect also for those who want to travel far but feel “looked after”
- BUT BE CAREFUL: They are not “problem-free” destinations
They are destinations
that allow you
to handle them more
easily.

🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates (UAE)
- very high level of safety
- services and infrastructure among the best in the world
- perfect organization
- ideal also for families with children
It is one of the easiest destinations in the world to travel far without complications, even now after the latest events in the Middle East. In fact, it is the destination that has once again shown what it can do in terms of safety (and I allow myself to say it after more than 30 years of monthly trips there)
Important: if you travel with minors
When traveling with children or teens, my advice is always the same:
rely on a qualified travel agency.
Because the truth is very simple: an unexpected issue, when you travel alone, can be manageable. But when there are minors… it becomes something much more complex to deal with.
Leaving knowing that, if needed, there’s someone ready to support you,
really makes the difference. In recent years I’ve seen – even on social media – many parents plan trips entirely on their own, booking everything online, and following tips from various ‘influencers’… And often everything goes fine.
👉 But the point isn’t when it goes fine. It’s that one time when something goes wrong.
And when you’re far from home, with your children, it’s not worth taking that risk.
That’s why I invite you to make a mindful choice: plan your trips with professionals.

A personal note
I started traveling the world with my son when he was just over a month old.
But for years I always chose to rely on organized facilities and travel agencies.
👉 I only “managed on my own” when he became an adult.
Because freedom matters.
But our children’s peace of mind and safety… matter even more.
Traveling for me means not giving up on living,
in fact, travel was never about avoiding the world, but stepping into it.
If you’re thinking about your next trip and you need help and/or advice, write to me.
I’ll help you build it the right way — not perfect, but real.
Thank you
